Delivery has become an essential component of the service model at Teriyaki Madness in Round Rock amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Customers will notice a new delivery option on the restaurant’s website—an opportunity to sponsor a teriyaki bar for local health care workers.

Franchisee Sylvester John said the concept, which is being offered at Teriyaki Madness locations across the country, began with the desire to “contribute to health care workers who are working overtime and spending time away from their families.”

One teriyaki bar order feeds up to 10 people, John said. The package includes a tray of chicken teriyaki, a half-tray of spicy chicken, brown and white rice, stir-fry vegetables, a bottle of teriyaki sauce and assorted utensils.

“In the current environment right now, we were looking for a way to say thank you for the hard work and to support our local health care workers,” John said.

Recently, John said an anonymous customer sponsored 10 packages—feeding a total of 100 health care workers—at St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center.

“They were very elated,” John said. “They weren’t expecting this.”

Meal packages can be sent to area hospitals, doctor’s offices, coronavirus testing locations or other health care facilities, according to the restaurant’s website.

The customer sponsoring the teriyaki bar pays half the cost, and Teriyaki Madness covers the remainder.

“We have health care workers working around the clock, away from their families,” John said. “This is a kind gesture for anyone to show their appreciation.”
