TMAD is coming to San Antonio with the Giffords!


Almost a year after announcing a franchise deal in San Antonio, the first Teriyaki Madness plans to open it first Alamo City location on the Northwest Side. Teriyaki Madness is remodeling a former Which Wich shop at 12822 W  I-10, Suite 206, in the University Heights shopping center near UTSA, according to a recent filing with Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. The Teriyaki Madness website confirms the upcoming location. The Seattle-based Japanese fast food franchise plans on completely overhauling most of the store with new design features, light fixtures, and kitchen equipment. Renovations are expected to finish in late October, according to the filing.

Teriyaki Madness’ menu offers exactly what’s in the name, but with different variations of proteins including chicken, steak, salmon and chicken katsu — which are crispy fried chicken cutlets. Those meats can be paired with stir-fried veggies, white rice, brown rice, fried rice or noodles. Teriyaki madness announced a three-store franchise deal with a security guard turned catering manager named Daniel Gifford back in October 2021. Giffords said at the time that he planned to open all three stores within three years. The October 2021 announcement also said that there was room to launch another 15 shops in San Antonio.Teriyaki Madness, founded in 2003, has over 100 locations across the nation and is experiencing rapid growth. The franchise plans to open another 45 to 50 shops throughout North America and another 50 new franchisees to its system.
